The Starlight Build Challenge

Build toward the stars.

An open challenge: take the five layers, build a system that does meaningful work, and show the receipts. The strongest builds join the canon — the growing set of skills and guidelines for how humans and AI work together, benevolent by construction.

  • Open method
  • Receipts required
  • The canon grows

How it runs

The bar is evidence, not ambition.

Anyone can describe a system that works. The challenge asks for one that ran, and for the record of what it actually did — including the parts that failed.

  1. 01

    Take the layers

Command, agents, skills, memory, signals. Build them for a problem you actually have. Any stack, any models, your own repos.

  2. 02

    Do real work

Run it on something that matters. A system that ships one genuine outcome beats a demo that gestures at ten.

  3. 03

    Show the receipts

Publish what happened. The runs, the gates, the failures you caught, and what you changed because of them. A run that surfaces a real defect is a successful run.

  4. 04

    Join the canon

The method compounds. The strongest builds become shared skills and guidelines other builders start from, credited to the people who proved them.

Why it matters

Somebody is writing the rules for how we work with these systems.

It should be the people doing the work. Every build that shows its method makes the next builder faster and the whole practice harder to fake — which is how a craft gets standards instead of slogans.
